Boosting the financing of large-scale research, development and innovation initiatives across Europe

EuroNanoForum 2015 from June 10th to 12th in Riga, Latvia

The EuroNanoForum 2015 is a meeting point for industry, science and policy.

We would like to invite you to attend these events at EuroNanoForum with a strong connection to NANOfutures:

One of the workshops will be the Value4Nano/NANOfutures workshop. Value4Nano aims at developing an implementation roadmap of 4 value chains and their target products. The workshop will act as the final meeting of the project, which will close in August 2015. The final roadmap will be presented and discussed during this meeting. The event is titled "Nanotechnology and materials in action: Pilot lines and industrial alliances to reach the market" and will be held on June 12th 2015 from 10:30 to 14:00.

Session 9 - "Smart structures and intelligent materials" will be chaired by Communication working group chair Andrea Reinhardt. The session will show some of the latest examples where smart structures and intelligent materials have been applied. It will take place on June 10th from 16:00 to 17:30.

Paula Queipo, chair of the Networking working group, will chair Session 11 - "Nano networks and clusters in Europe – smart specialisation in action". In this session, some of the nano related networks and clusters present their actions and best successes. It will take place on June 10th from 11:30 to 13:00.

New NANOfutures Working Group

This week the NANOfutures community was extended by the Critical Raw Materials (CRM) Working Group. It meets two fundamental needs: On the one hand, the creation of a collaborative network of expertise to develop new materials, products and technologies based on nanotechnology, by connecting fundamental and applied research with the aim of substituting or reducing the need of CRMs in strategic EU industrial value chains. On the other, to extend the knowledge and technology transfer within NANOfutures community to scientists, engineers, technologists, and European industry.

The group is chaired by Santiago Cuesta Lopez. Co-chair is Andrea Reinhardt.

NanoDiode Idea Competition Winners

The NanoDiode project is delighted to announce the winners of its Competition for innovative ideas! In the competition, NanoDiode asked the participants to take a look at current nanotechnology innovations developed across Europe and then come up with their own innovative ideas on how nanotechnologies could contribute to a better, sustainable European future.

The winner of the competition is Rodrigo García Ferreriro from the Colegio Corazón de María in Gijón – Asturias, Spain with his idea of “Automatically heated nanomaterials“ – materials that absorb sunlight, store its energy and release it as heat according to the user’s needs. NanoDiode is happy to award Rodrigo with the first prize of the competition – an innovation-oriented weekend trip for two to Amsterdam, the Netherlands!

The second prize of the competition is shared by

Serena Della Rossa from Liceo Scientifico G. Marinelli in Udine, Italy with the “NT Bracelet” for the monitoring of body stats,

Pablo Peña Suárez, also from Colegio Corazón de María in Gijón – Asturias, Spain with his “Nano ID+” tracking device and

Edanur Demirsoy, Funda Coban, Ozora Thayalan, Diellza Aslani & Fercan Ferli from the Herbert-Hoover-Schule in Stuttgart, Germany with the “Nano-Headscarf: Swimming without getting wet”.

NanoSlam

NANOfutures and NanoDiode partners are organising several NanoSlams, where nanotechnology researchers present their work to the public in an entertaining way.

Come to learn about nanotech research and talk with the speakers.

What's a NanoSlam?
A NanoSlam is a talk where scientists present their own research work in a given time frame in front of a non-expert audience. The focus lies on teaching current science to a diverse audience in an entertaining way and learning from the audience's questions.

The next NanoSlam will take place in Germany in April.

What? 5 presentations with 10 minutes each + 5 minutes for Q&A

Presentations from NANOfutures Brokerage Event

The NANOfutures NMBP Brokerage on November 13th in Brussels was a great success. More than 500 participants connected and shared project ideas. We thank all contributors and our supporting partners.

The 6th NRW Nano-Conference

The NRW Nano-Conference will take place from 1st to 2nd December 2014 in Dortmund, Germany. Guests from business, science and politics are welcome to participate an enriching and interdisciplinary dialogue about the opportunities, risks and potential of nanotechnology.

The NRW Nano-Conference in Dortmund offers two days of technical presentations about current trends in nanotechnology by top speakers from companies and research institutes. Furthermore, companies will present their latest technology developments and products at the accompanying exhibition. The organizers expect round about 600 international participants.

For the first time, this year the NRW Nano-Conference offers a "Call for Presentations". Interested persons who are enthusiastic about future technologies and new insights of nanotechnology, have the opportunity to present their projects and ideas at the event.

The NRW Nano-Conference is organized by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Cluster NanoMicroMaterialsPhotonics.NRW and the Economic Development Agency.

Those of you who are enthusiastic about future technologies with a focus on new insights into nanotechnology will have the opportunity to present their applications, products and research projects.
